Job Title: Infrastructure & Hardware Administrator

Role Summary:

Infrastructure and Hardware administrator is an information technology expert who is responsible for managing, overseeing, and maintaining an organization’s ICT infrastructure and hardware up to-date and ensuring it is running smoothly. Any organization or a company that uses multiple computer systems or software platforms needs a network administrator to coordinate and connect different computer systems and monitor the communication systems to ensure the information is flowing properly within the organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Infrastructure Maintenance & Monitoring 
  • Server & Link Management: Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of servers, ensuring all network links are functional, and generating detailed monitoring reports and logs.
  • Web Performance: Activelymonitors the organization’s website to ensure high performance, speed, and constant accessibility for users. 
  • System Health:Leverages a comprehensive knowledge of the company’s hardware and software stack to ensure all components work together seamlessly. 
  1. Technical Planning & Implementation
  • StrategicRoadmapping: Prepares detailed technical implementation plans for new solutions, defining clear milestones, timelines, and “critical paths” to ensure successful deployment. 
  • Integrated Solutions: Focuses on creating holistic technical setups that solve specific business problems whileremaining stable and scalable. 
  1. Configuration & Documentation
  • Topology Mapping: Responsible for the configuration management and detailed documentation of network and system topologies (how all hardware and software are connected).
  • Record Keeping:Maintains accurate records of system changes and website configurations to ensure business continuity and ease of troubleshooting. 
  1. User Support & Collaboration
  • Technical Advisory: Acts as a consultant for network users,providing expert advice and resolving technical issues. 
  • Internal Coordination: Works closely with other members of the Information Systems (IS) department to align network administration with broader organizational performance requirements.
  1. System Administration & Maintenance
  • Server & System Management: Install, configure, andmaintain servers, desktops, and related hardware/software. This includes managing user accounts, performing archival, and ensuring system integrity. 
  • Configuration & Standards: Develop andmaintain installation, configuration, and system standards in collaboration with Engineering and Corporate IT. 
  • Data Center Operations: Monitor data center environmental and monitoringequipment, and perform periodic performance reporting for capacity planning. 
  1. Technical Support & Problem Resolution
  • User Support: Respond to technical service requests from internal customers, diagnosing and resolving issues with hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Repair andrecover from hardware/software failures, acting as the primary point of contact for problem resolution. 
  • Onsite/Remote Support: Provide in-depth diagnoses and resolutions for computer problems, including new hire setups and software evaluations.
  1. Infrastructure Management & Change Control
  • System Monitoring: Conduct daily monitoring of hardware, server resources, and key processes, reviewing logs to ensure availability and performance.
  • Change Management: Manage infrastructure changes, coordinate end-user testing, and negotiate maintenance windows with global teams.
  • Communication: Inform end-users about outages and maintenanceactivities, and liaise with building management for facility-related IT tasks. 
  1. Process Improvement & Business Continuity
  • Documentation: Create,maintain, and disseminate clear technical documentation, policies, and procedures for IT staff. 
  • Onboarding/Offboarding: Continuously improve user onboarding and offboarding processes to enhance the end-user IT experience.
  • Business Continuity: Plan and monitor IT business continuity, crisis management, and risk management, ensuring third-party SLAs are met and administrative processes are in place.
  • Project Support: Assist with the design, installation, and maintenance of IT resources for acquisitions and large projects, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
  1. IT Infrastructure & System Management
  • Server & OS Administration: Design, secure, install,monitor, and maintain company servers, operating systems, and layered software packages. 
  • Application Management: Install, configure, and upgrade new and existing application software, and troubleshoot application performance issues.
  • User & Access Management: Create andmaintain user accounts, verifying access requirements for various systems (email, chat, FTP). 
  • Virtualization & Middleware: Work with OS sections on virtualization techniques and IIStopologies, and collaborate with Middleware Application Server Administrators for consistency. 
  1. Network & Security Operations
  • Network Configuration: Plan, select, configure, and test LAN/WAN hardware and software, including firewalls, load balancing, and reverse proxy rules.
  • System Security: Implement and coordinate network security measures, perform security audits, and ensure all systems have the latest security updates.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure the IT environment protects company assets, adheres to IT frameworks for risk management, andcomplies with all relevant domestic and international laws. 
  1. Monitoring, Performance & Incident Response
  • Proactive Monitoring: Continuouslymonitor the integrity, availability, and performance of production hardware, server resources, networks, voice circuits, and security events. 
  • Performance Tuning: Conduct system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning,identifying bottlenecks and offering solutions across operating environments. 
  • Incident Resolution: Provide basic hardware and software incident resolution for on-site and remote users within defined SLAs, escalating complex issues to subject matter experts.
  • Alert & Escalation Management: Respond to monitoring alerts,escalate incidents, track status using IT service management tickets, and document root causes. 
  1. Strategic Planning & Collaboration
  • IT Strategy & Budgeting: Work closely with senior Network Administrators and Group IT Managers todetermine future IT needs, budgets, forecasts, licensing, and asset rotation. 
  • High Availability & DR: Coordinate, build, and test large-scale, high-availability, high-transaction volume systems, andparticipate in disaster recovery planning. 
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with developers, quality engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration andoptimal performance of applications and systems. 
  1. Documentation & Process Improvement
  • Procedure Development: Develop tools andmaintain system operations procedures, change control records, and other required documentation. 
  • Support Documentation: Create system and application support documentation tofacilitate troubleshooting and knowledge sharing within the team. 
  • Maintenance & Auditing: Follow operating procedures for after-hoursmaintenance and administer security audits and reports of server access and activity. 

Academic Qualification 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree BSc, from a recognized university in a technical field Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer and Information Security, Computer Security, and/or Network Administration  

Experience 

  • The role requires 4 years of total experience should be in experience with Operating System technologies in Microsoft Windows Server, experience with Account and rights assignment, Extensive knowledge and experience managing server networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, Job Description and Specification Document DNS, firewalls, etc.), Extensive knowledge and experience handling production issues, experience managing systems and applications in a virtualized environment, experience with Microsoft SharePoint Administration and experience creating scripts in a professional environment – a plus
