Chief Information Security Officer at Ethio telecom
Mekdes Mintesnot is the Chief Information Security Officer at Ethio telecom, with over 37 years of experience in IT leadership, transformation, Program/Project Management and Change Management, technology enhancement and business and IT strategic alignment in the Telecom Industry. She has a BSc Degree in Information Management Systems. Her extensive experience in the ICT field began with a computer programmer position at Ethio telecom. Since then, she has earned numerous leadership positions in the company, including IT service officer, Business analysis and Road map manager, and Billing and customer care division manager. She was first named as the Chief Information Officer eight years ago, making her the only female to land this position in the company’s history. One of her major achievements as a CIO was her successful leadership during the implementation of the Telecom Expansion Project (TEP) in the IT domain, which migrated over 30million subscribers in 4 systems within 24 hours. This was followed by a position as the Chief Quality and Process Officer in 2018, during which time she played a major role in the transformation of new leadership that is currently in place at Ethio telecom. In 2019, Mekdes was named the Chief information security officer; her responsibilities include fraud prevention and management, cyber security strategy development and operation, Revenue assurance and Enterprise risk management. As CISO, she ensured the overall business continuity of the company with her team.
In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Mekdes’s expertise are also backed by countless short courses and trainings in ICT, leadership, and management, including those with Oracle DB, PMI and Risk management. Moreover, Mekdes is an active participant in multiple societal work. She has mentored young girls with aspirations to join the tech world, which is an area of interest for her as she believes in the education and encouragement of the youth and the significant role it plays. In 2018, was a trainer and coordinator during the training program for the African Girls Can Code Initiative, which was organized by ITU, AU and UN Women. She is one of the motivators and speaker at the Annual “Girls in ICT day” organized by ITU, which is a platform that inspires and educates Girls and young women to enter the ICT sector. Mekdes is known and admired for her exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. She manages and leads by example, while taking into consideration the various personalities and attitudes of her colleagues. Her achievements and expertise has earned her well-deserved honorary spot in the ICT field.

Mengistu Bogale Ayele is a Business and Information Systems Professional consulting in Ethiopia. He has a multidisciplinary academic and practical knowledge in business and IS for more than 22 years. Belachew Chekene Tesfa a Ph.D. is a qualified chartered engineer with multidisciplinary academic and practical business background with 20 years of experience. He attained his BSc in Chemical Engineering from Addis Ababa University, MSc from Leeds University, UK, and Ph.D. from the University of Huddersfield, UK. Dr. Tesfa has worked in high rank research centers closely with state of art industries and he is the author of more than 45 articles in esteemed journals and conferences. He has worked in the top global power system and car companies in technical advisor role in emission modelling, renewable energy, data validation, project management, and system development in the United Kingdom. He was leading multi-million-pound projects with a multidisciplinary team in the project scoping, design, specification, costing, and installation and commissioning stages. Dr Tesfa is an entrepreneur who assess his environment and change to the business, he set a range of successful businesses. He is co-founder and director of two global Fintech company which are based in Europe and the USA. He is the founder and director for EIPSA which is a volunteer professional association working on Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) for the last 8 years. He served in the director position and he has published articles and advocate in local and international media for fair and equitable share of Abay River for Ethiopia. He is actively involved in the Ethiopian diaspora community by delivering training, workshops for parents and children in his spare time for the last 12 years. He had developed children Amharic & Ethiopian heritage teaching DVD and published parents’ guide book and lead curriculum development. Dr Tesfa has accumulated skills in business development by using theoretical and practical engineering knowledge and problems solving techniques. Dr Tesfa is a chartered engineer in UK engineering council and trained in six Sigma green belt.

Balew, throughout his career, has been providing legal advice and guidance on all kinds of legal matters; ensuring compliance of laws and regulations for all operations in an organization; studying contracts and legal documents to make sure that it is in the organization’s interests; handling lawsuits of his employers; negotiating contracts for his employers; filing lawsuits in the court for the employer; studying lawsuits filed by an individual or other organizations and find appropriate methods to save and ensure minimum loss to his employer.
